Gamagori is a popular sightseeing destination famous for Laguna Ten Bosch, a seaside resort featuring the Lagunasia theme park. A natural monument and the city’s iconic symbol, Takeshima Island, is connected to the mainland by a scenic bridge. At the heart of the island sits Yaotomi Shrine, one of Japan’s Seven Great Benten Shrines. It was founded by the court noble Fujiwara no Toshinari, who enshrined a deity from Chikubu Island in Lake Biwa during his tenure as the governor of Mikawa. The shrine is widely renowned for bringing good luck, safe childbirth, and success in matchmaking.
