Hakodate / Hokkaido (Japan)
The night view from Mt. Hakodate is celebrated as one of the three most beautiful in Japan, offering a breathtaking panorama that sparkles like a jewelry box. The city is rich in historical landmarks, including the Trappistine Monastery (Japan’s oldest convent), the Hakodate Orthodox Church (the nation’s oldest Russian Orthodox sanctuary), and Goryokaku, a unique star-shaped Western-style fort built by the Tokugawa Shogunate to defend the northern frontier.
For a true taste of Hokkaido, a visit to the Hakodate Morning Market is essential. You can indulge in premium seafood such as the famous Ika Somen (squid noodles) and fresh Uni (sea urchin). Please note that the market remains lively until 2:00 PM.
