Hidaka is a scenic region steeped in historical romance and legends. It is home to Dojoji Temple, famous for the tragic love story of Anchin and Kiyohime, and the well-preserved Jinai-machi district, which still retains the nostalgic atmosphere of the Edo period. The area is also celebrated as the birthplace of Miyako-hime, often referred to as "Japan’s Cinderella."
As a strategic gateway on the western coast of the Kii Peninsula, this port offers convenient access to world-class attractions. Visitors can journey to Adventure World, one of Japan’s premier theme parks and wildlife sanctuaries, or ascend to the sacred mountain peaks of Mt. Koya (Koyasan), a UNESCO World Heritage site and the center of Shingon Buddhism.
