Sukumo Bay Port is the southern gateway to the Bungo Channel and the southwestern entrance to Shikoku. From the pier, you can see Kanyojo Island, a famous spot for viewing the rare and mystical "Daruma Sunset"—an atmospheric phenomenon where the setting sun takes the shape of a traditional Japanese Daruma doll.
