Tottori / Tottori (Japan)
Tottori is the gateway to the magnificent Tottori Sand Dunes, a natural wonder stretching 16 kilometers from east to west and 2.4 kilometers from north to south. The region is steeped in history and folklore, offering charming strolls through the Kurayoshi White Wall District with its Edo-period storehouses, and a visit to Hakuto Shrine. This sacred site is the legendary setting of "The White Rabbit of Inaba," a famous myth recorded in Japan’s oldest chronicles, the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.
Adding to its charm, Tottori is affectionately known as "Kanitori-ken" (the Crab-Catching Prefecture). At the Karo-ichi Seafood Market near Tottori Port, visitors can indulge in an abundance of premium, fresh-caught seafood, including the region's world-class succulent crabs.
